Conflicting reports are bouncing around and everyone just believes whatever fills them with the most righteous indignation. More than likely, there were stupid mistakes made on both sides, and the truth is far less interesting than we'd hope for. There is a good timeline of events from the Kirkwood high school news site which I suggest you read before any of the comments on the local news. You'll find better information without all the bullshit.
It actually makes me happy to read that story. That's how journalism should be: Facts gathered through asking questions. I hope these students aren't beaten down by the terrible world of sensationalist journalism displayed by everyone else covering this mess.
STLToday broke the story and added a fun little part about Reporting Ethics to the end of the writeup. I guess they have to get their hits in where they can, but it's a bit like the kids in the special class making fun of the one guy who pissed himself.
People have been making themselves feel better by waggling a finger at KSDK via facebook wall posts, and I'm sure we won't know what actually happens until the RFT puts a reporter on it to write a seven page story filled with unnecessary, flowery, padded language and a terrible illustration that makes no sense to splash on the front cover.
Lisa Zigman is a breast cancer survivor and has been very active in the cancer community since she went into remission. People like Kevin Kestner make me think he's angry that the vagina holders won't touch his wee-wee. It could have been just like any of the other "KSDK SO STOOPID" comments, but no, you have to make it about one reporter who wasn't even involved.
Even if she wasn't a cancer survivor, it's a dick move to call out a TV personality for getting surgery to keep themselves up to ridiculous standards. If you're on TV, you don't get to be ugly or misshapen, especially if you're a woman. Smiles, white teeth and keeping everything perky, whether it be body or personality.
I have a feeling Kevin Kestner wouldn't qualify for any of that.
This was a comment on a story about an HIV+ wrestler in the St. Louis area knowingly exposing sexual partners to the disease without disclosing his condition. Cindari Mackenslap is going to be one of those people who just can't let this shit go, and will bring it up for cheap like whenever possible.
Already today there was another school lockdown in Hillsboro and everyone thinks they're just so god damn clever in the comments. If you people were comedians you wouldn't be commenting on facebook pages of local news at eleven in the morning.
I think shit like this will keep up for about a week before everyone forgets all over again. As much as Saint Louis commenters like to bring up old shit, they aren't very good and remembering why they were so mad a few days ago. I imagine mostly they just wake up one morning, wonder where the last two days went and just shrug it off before reading something about Obama. Then the brain shitting cycle happens all over again.
You've had your fun, now get over it.
I'm not going to too much further into this. Almost of the comments are chastising KSDK as a whole because of one guy, probably a junior reporter, made a stupid decision. I just figured you'd like to see some of the nuggets of shit buried in otherwise unimpressive comments.
Also I'm not a hundred percent sure this isn't some elaborate Webster Groves prank.
