Tuesday roundup: Thank God the iPad giveaway is done

Today is the first day of our new schedule, but also a change in the way we do screen shots. I haven't had any problems yet, but as the site grows, there are more chances for assholes to go internet vigilante on our locals. 

But don't worry, it's still local and still stupid. 

For seventeen days, KSDK has been giving away an iPad a day and the people posting on their walls have been unbearable. The ass-kissing, the begging, the praying and the terrible, terrible punctuation. These are not the people who normally post on facebook news sites, this is the cry of an Elder God, this is the breaking of the seven seals seen by John of Patmos.

And it's not just "How win i pad" or "YOUR LINK IS BROKEN I THINK YOU SHOULD DO DRAWING A GAIN" posts thrown against KSDK's facebook wall like well aimed ballistic turds tossed by the comment monkeys of our fair city. Some of the comments are fantastically creative in their insanity. Here's a couple of my favorites.

I like to think this person is actually praying to the Santa Claus of deer. The red coated white-tail and his sleigh pulled by a bunch of fat guys. Though a bright red deer wouldn't last long during hunting season.

I suppose I had to expect a bit of ass kissing to happen, but this is just the tip of the iceberg. Every other wall post was begging for iPads. From giving it to their kids to learn with to staying connected to the world (no idea how they were posting to facebook if they didn't already have that ability)

Though for me, it is worse that the social media manager kept going through and liking all the statuses of people saying how CHANNEL 5 IS MY FAVRT CHANEL PLEASE FOR IPADS

They don't need encouragement. 

I had to stop and think before taking on this comment. I'm about 90% sure this is hyperbole, but what if it does become his friend? Are we ready for this kind of human/technological interfacing? A world where man and machine can feel and be friendly? 

If so, how big of a douchebag would an iPad be?
